Today was my third day doing an internship at Acroquest, and I attended student seminor at Tokyo Institute of Technology (TITech). This event's purpose was to allow students at TIT see what kind of internship programs are offered by different companies.
I attended this event as a intern of Acroquest, and my mission was simply to invite as many students as possible and answer any questions that they might have about the internship. Although this is a good opportunity for students to see which company they might like, this is also a good opportunity for Acroquest to spread the name of the company to different people. Because I was not giving any presentation, I decided to talk about my honest opinions about the internship at Acroquest with the students of TITech.
After brief introductions were made by all 14 companies and students started to pick which booth they wanted to head to. My job was to invite students, so I decided to approach them by asking if they were interested in IT venture company. I realized that this approach worked for students who were studying informational technology, but it did not really work for students studying other fields.
I realized that I should have come up with different patterns of approaches so that I could get interest of broader range of people. This is something that I hope to fix if I get the chance next time.
After the booth presentation, we passed out surveys for students to fill out to see how many students are interested in the internship. Many students asked me how I feel doing an internship at Acroquest. I answered that this internship feels like I have a clear goal and I can clearly see where I am going.
Sometimes, interns complete tasks that have no meaning whatsoever. However, at Acroquest, you get to see how your project actually relates with real programs that are used in real life work. This is a very good way to keep the motivation high for interns. I was very happy to hear that some students agree with me on this point.
Overall, this was a very fruitful and enjoyable experience for me. I would love to attend these student seminars to spread how rewarding it is to do an internship at Acroquest.
P.S. I will post some pictures later. Sorry.
I posted a picture of the booth from the seminar.
